Do you find yourself thinking about the past or worried
about the future almost all the time? You need to realise that when you're
constantly dwelling on past issues or getting stressed out about what may
happen tomorrow and in the years ahead, there's a chance you're more likely to
suffer from mental health problems, such as anxiety or clinical
depression. Learning about how you can become more mindful or focused in
the present moment is one way of preventing yourself from experiencing this. Mindfulness is simply
defined as being in the here and now and focusing on what's happening around
and within you using all of your 6 senses.
One of the easiest things you can do to live mindfully is
to focus on what exactly is happening around you at the present moment. Use
your senses to pay attention to the different people and things that surround
you. For instance, take a look and observe the people around you. What are they
trying to do? Are you acquainted with these people? Is there anybody that looks
familiar to you?
Don't forget to observe the scent and the noise in your
surroundings. What do you hear? Take the time to observe the scent of the freshly
cut grass, or the sweet aroma of your cup of coffee. Living your life more
mindfully is often all you need to make you feel happier and content.
